5Great buy
By Lawrence
For decades I’ve always used Canon Power Shot pocket size cameras to take pics of all my adventures. Started taking pics of birds & wildlife and found out I needed to step up and get a higher resolution camera and a proper lens. This kit filled the ticket. Did research for about a week, pros and cons on all the models. This Rebel SL-1 is a pretty impressive camera. The other models are big, heavy, bulky. Plus they have zillions of buttons all over them for options that you rarely use. This camera is designed with just the most popular buttons exposed and if you need more, the big touch screen is available to do more. Impressed with the lightness of the camera. I’m a 250lb guy with big hands and it’s easy to hold onto this camera. The LCD screen is easy to see on bright sunny days. Never use a tripod with the IS feature on the 55-250mm IS lens plus I use a 2x teleconverter. You can spend hundreds more on the higher models but this model does it all, and then some. I never use the view finder, always use the LCD screen which is ultra clear. Auto focusing is very fast and accurate. Manual controls are easy to access. If you want a camera where you don’t have to carry around the 400 page manual to operate it, this one is for you. I really have no cons, only pros for this sweet little DSRL and awesome lenses.

5Smallest digital SLR but still has great feature set.
By Crabber
Love the size and feature set. Owned and sold a Canon 7d as it was so large we didn’t often take it with us. Be sure to get STM lenses, we love the 18-55mm 55- 250 and the 24mm pancake. The camera is so portable with 24mm on it there is no excuse not to take it. This is my wife’s camera, I have large hands but still have no problems with it. If I was a Pro I would want something bigger but for occasional use this is perfect for us.

Replacing my ‘trusty and true’ Digital Rebel – This Canon is true and easy to use. Fits the medium to small hand perfectly and as we age, it is lite and forgiving. Thank you Canon for this new – entry level EOS Rebel SL1,,, just 4 times better than my original entry level Rebel.

Digital slrs are usually larger than Prosumer cameras. However, DSLRs are often equipped with a convenient hand grip which makes it possible and easier that you should hold your camera when utilizing a heavy lens. DSLRs include greater sensor hence enabling you to catch larger objects. The sensor also uses a low-noise sensor technology so the images produced are better. Due to the large sensor size, the price is generally expensive.
