4Great camera, but not perfect
By Stormy1
I have purchased a few of these Canon SX-50 HS digital cameras over the past 2 years and personally to me, I think this has been one of my best digital bridge cameras I have ever owned. I did recently get Canon’s newer version, the SX-60 HS with the 65X optical zoom, but oddly it just seemed that this SX-50 HS takes a slightly better picture overall.
It’s not a perfect camera and I don’t use everything on it, but whatever settings I need to make to get a better picture, this camera has it and generally easy to adjust.
Pros: Nice 50X optical zoom, excellent outdoor photo qualities, great video quality, easy to use menu layout, generally easy to use, good battery life, feels chunky while using it, flip out rear LED viewfinder, optical viewfinder and uses the easy to find SD and SDHC cards.
Cons: When I review photos I took with this camera, directly on this camera, it takes FOREVER just to be able to scroll & view what photos you took with ANY of the prior and this Canon digital bridge cameras. Once I turned on the “view photos” button on the backside of this camera, the screen came on just fine but it said “BUSY” up to 4 minutes before being able to review the photos you took directly on the camera. Now I have a Nikon L-840 and a Panasonic FZ70 [both comparable super zoom digital cameras] and reviewing photos on both of those cameras are nearly instant when activated the “photo review” button. This is a HUGE issue with me and consistent with ALL Canon Bridge Super Zoom digital cameras I have ever owned….including this model. I do not know why this is an issue with Canon digital cameras. This is why I did not get a Canon DSLR camera because of this issue.
I would get an extra battery charger and several spare batteries for this camera since they really do not cost a lot.
Photo quality seems quite well for outdoor photos in full daylight, but photo quality does degrade when it gets darker outside and indoor photos are quite nice….as long as you’re using the flash on the camera. Video qualities are great with this camera, no matter what video mode you use.
This digital camera does not take DSLR quality photos, but photo quality seems just fine for me and in some cases, I have to do some slight photo editing from software I have on the computer.
Overall, this is a fine super zoom bridge digital camera for those that cannot or do not want to fork out a lot of money for a DSLR camera outfit and still get fairly decent photos.
I gave this product 4 of 5 stars only because of the issues I have been having with all Canon digital cameras concerning the time it takes to start to review photos directly on this and other Canon digital cameras I have had over the past few years….including the SX40-HS, SX-50 HS, SX-510 HS, SX-520 HS, SX-530 HS and a few compact Canon digital cameras too.

5Outstanding camera.
By C. Lahmann
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this camera. Takes excellent shots, clear pictures, and brilliant color. I wanted to test the zoom and was able to clearly shoot a picture of a building I would estimate 1/2 to 3/4 miles away, and a home that is about a good mile away. My previous camera was too slow and wouldn’t take clear shots up close. I was at a Disney on Ice show and was so frustrated at the lousy pictures my camera delivered. That was when I decided it was time to get a new camera. This camera is perfect. The shots are extremely clear. I was considering a different camera and while reading the reviews this camera was recommended over it. I am very glad that I read the reviews. I couldn’t ask for a better camera. No more frustrating blurry pictures. If you are in the market for a camera, this is the camera to get.

5Fantastic Deal
By Robyn Niblock
Bought this camera on the recombination of professional birder Lillian Stokes. This is her go-to camera. After purchasing mine from this company I was so pleased with everything (the camera, the price and speed of delivery) I purchased another as a backup. Wonderful doing business with you…

Now, I’m not going to tell you that you can take better photos with a point and shoot camera than you can with an DIGITAL SLR. But, I’m never going to inform you that you can’t take good photos with them either. If a point and shoot has an aperture priority, shutter priority, or a manual shooting mode, you should have some pretty good control over the particular image will look like. But, even if it doesn’t have custom shooting modes, you can still get favorable results. After all, there are groups of photographers that pride themselves on getting great photos using only their cellular phone cameras.

That’s the whole thing you should know relating to this product. With this kind of comprehensive input, you will definitely get plenty of guideline so there’s not a single chance to result in the wrong decision. Don’t forget that best valued one isn’t always be the most cost effective one. Price won’t be a problem when it meets your decision. Off course, you are the one to decide and if your decision due to this product is a no, we have reviews for the next products from the same category. There’s possibility you can find things you need derived from one of of them. Thank you and have a good day!
