By DC Reviews
Holy this camera is large, it is much larger than your normal camera, this camera is bigger than the ones that you can buy in a store it is made of a durable material outside and is two toned, it seems that the front parts are black to block out any reflections or anything that may come up while using it to record.

The image is quite clear as it is indeed a 1080p camera, however for some reason at night, the camera is kind of fuzzy with the IR lights on, you can still see the face of people if they are near the acceptable range. It is important to use the software for setup if your router is not set up correctly to the IP of the IP camera (different IP range).

Some images of the install and quality of the camera image will come soon.

Please note, the camera has not been fully mounted on my house yet as I haven’t had the time to run the additional wire, but my tests are based off a 100ft ethernet cord plugged into the wall with a wall adapter and an additional test with the device powered via PoE from an NVR.

There aren’t any point to zoom features on this device in terms of software, you need to adjust it by opening the actual camera enclosure and adjusting the two screws that are inside of the camera which will change the field of view and also focus the device once it has been adjusted.

I have no problems with the quality of the camera as it is heavy and is made of metal and not plastic like some of the cameras sold in stores. The joint of this device is very stiff so it is hard to move it if it isn’t directly in your hand, I can say that since it is so stiff I am sure that it won’t fall down after I mount it as the joint basically requires a good amount of force to tilt it up and down. The up and down motion is about a 90 degree angle, the only thing with the joint that I had was that I couldn’t move it much side to side for positioning.

There is an included power adapter which has a very short cable and I don’t see myself using the power adapter as the cable is not long enough and I don’t have a place to plug it in when I have it installed so I will stick to PoE.

As with similar cameras that I have used from GW Security, the camera gets HOT after using it for a while in the sun, but it seems it is built to withstand hot weather as I didn’t notice any performance issues after using it on my deck for a while.

The included ethernet cable is of good quality, but it isn’t long enough to run, with my initial mounting tests on a wood board (not stucco) I found that the mount was secure and easy to setup, it can be tampered with since there is a hole for the wire on the side but it is hard metal and attaches.

Comes with CD, limited physical instructions manual (full manual is located on CD), ethernet cable, mounting accessories, power adapter, camera.

The camera looks like any standard IP camera, but it does look quite high quality, the design is good, but the camera is a bit big so it isn’t as discreet as I wanted it to be. The little edge on the device is nice as it blocks out any sun and I noticed that there wasn’t much flare on the computer.

I just didn’t like the fact that there isn’t any way to put the cable in discreetly for outdoor applications as there is a hole in the camera on the side to put the wire out, but no where to stuff the adapter which you need to stuff into the wall or something, but I need to seal the hole there so that no water or anything can get in.

SETUP/SOFTWARE (the setup is similar to the other camera I used, so here is a copy of what I wrote in that one):

The included software is designed for the camera and is good, it is similar to Blue Iris, however it has some broken english here and there but the program works and has a lot of features that you can use, works well with this camera.

The setup of the camera is easy, I tried both ways, PoE and power adapter and both of it worked, the camera powered on, it did get hot on the AC adapter though.

The configuration however is NOT easy if you have a router set with “” as the default gateway, the router is set to “” and it didn’t work well with my router. Here is where the software comes in, it is crucial to have the software.

If you are unable to connect to it you will need to reconfigure the IP on the camera, it took me a while to figure out but it is easy, you will need to install the software that was included and run the IP config/Discovery tool, that will indeed find discover the camera on the network “” you will need to right click on the camera and click “Modify” then change the ip to whatever your router gateway is, in my case “” and hit modify, it will write the changes and BOOM it works!

I didn’t see a web interface for this camera that you can use without a plugin, it only asked me to install a plug in in order to use it, there wasn’t an easy to use web management panel like to change passwords ETC without installing the plugin so you will need to use the included software to do that. The plug in actually seems to only work on internet explorer and basically is a similar panel to the UC panel however it is much more bare bones. I don’t see the web panel running smoothly on slower PC’s as it is heavily flash dependent.

So basically after changing the IP, the camera worked and I used the included “UC” software which works like Blue Iris, to log in to view the camera and edit the settings and such.

The web interface is basically pretty full featured, but it doesn’t seem like you can use it in a Mac computer, it seems that you need to basically install an MSI plugin into internet explorer and boom you get the panel on internet explorer which you can view the camera and configure it, it is pretty fully fledged which is quite nice.

The setup of the camera isn’t hard, you just need to know what to do. I have a lot more to say about the camera but I figured I would keep it concise and to the point.

In the end, the camera is good and I had no problems with it at all as the picture is clear and it runs fine without a problem, the price is a bit high for the camera as I have seen better cameras for around $40 cheaper, so you may want to take that into consideration in your deliberation. I run it at 2.8mm which gives me the best field of view, I don’t need to have it zoomed in.

I did hook it up to my NVR, and it had no problem recognizing it and it basically just worked over PoE with no problems at all.

I did get this for review but I can assure you I did test the product and my review is honest and unbiased.

5Works very well, easy to use and to setup

[[VIDEOID:5e70fb8f37e7cbefa3a10d156e5fbf1f]] Just showing the basic use of the system. It was very easy to setup. Took me about 15 minutes to get it setup and to start recording. Recorded for a week without any problems. I can scan through any point in time extremely fast. Also will make spots on the recordings that tell you if there is motion or if an alarm was triggered. The IR turns on very quickly and it looks great. Very easy to use interface too. You can just use a mouse, which comes with the system. You can also add on other cameras if you want to. I really love this system!
