SUPER High quality, metal and glass construction. POE and varifocal features are a must have for serious CCTV installations. Picture is exceptional even in low light with the LEDs off. Automatic LEDs and IR cut work as expected. Adjusting the zoom and focus is not as quick as the other black GW outdoor camera. You need to unscrew the black lens cover on this camera to access the manual knobs. Not a deal breaker, though.
– Setup can be frustrating since you need a Windows PC to install an Active-X application and set up a manual IP address (or make sure your router is using 192.168.x.x addresses).
– IR LEDs create a hot spot “ring” when turned on.
– Outdoor installation wasn’t thought through since either 1) you need to drill a large hole in the wall for the ethernet jack to fit through or 2) place an extra junction box close to or behind the camera’s mount
Overall, I’m glad I gave this camera (and GW company) a chance. The price is very reasonable and this is exactly what I’m looking for. The setup pains are totally worth it. I followed up my initial purchased with three more of these and 4 other GW cameras to replace an old CCTV system that still runs on coax.

Excellent 1080p manual zoom camera
This is a TVI interface camera with a 1080p (2.1 megapixel) resolution. It has a manual zoom lens which can be adjusted for roughly a 30-degree to 80-degree field of view. Image quality is excellent, being clear and noise free. The camera has two interfaces; besides the TVI connector there is an analog connector (both BNC). This might be useful if you are adding the camera to an analog recording setup, but you will sacrifice image quality. The TVI interface provides a much superior image over analog. There is also a 12v power connector, and can be used with duplex cables to carry power and the video signal.
The camera mounts with 4 screws, and is pointed by loosening/tightening screws on the mount with the included Allen wrench. Adjustment of zoom level and focus is done by unscrewing the front cover, which has a rubber gasket to keep moisture out. The zoom level and focus are adjusted by loosening two screws and sliding them clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust. Then tighten the screws to lock in position and replace the cover. The camera body is made of cast aluminum, but has a rather small shield for keeping rain off the lens, so installing the camera in a covered area or indoors would be most appropriate.
Setup is simple, just plug in the connectors, and you’ll have an image. Then adjust the zoom/focus and direction that you want to watch over.
The camera is night-vision capable, with 42 Infrared LEDs. These will glow a dull red in the dark. The camera switches mode to night vision automatically when the light level drops below a certain level. IR illumination distance is rated at 30 meters, but in practice it’s more like 25-30 feet.
In summary, this is a nice camera with great picture quality, and is reasonably compact for having a zoom lens.

One big feature for a business or the home with a limited spending budget is you can broaden your area of concern without investing in a lot of cameras. The dome camera can be intermingled with dummy cameras or false cameras. Most security camera vendors have dummy video cameras the look just like a real dome camera, even having a flashing diode to signify it really is in operation. Putting actual cameras in strategic areas after which a few dummy cameras will really deter fraud, and only the master or perhaps manager will know that are real and which cameras are the fake video cameras. It’s a proven fact burglars don’t like bright lights, noise and cameras.
