4Decent camera, with limitations
By C. Okamuro
I got this camera to work with a Blue Iris setup that I put together. It’s the camera that I have facing the street, so I wanted something a bit more discreet than the large Anran cameras that I have up everywhere else. The web setup is okay, with the normal ActiveX control nonsense. Getting the camera to work with Blue Iris only took a couple minutes.

So the good:
The picture quality at 1080p is decent, especially in the daylight. The camera is very small. The firmware seems more stable than a Foscam (not a high bar, though).

The bad:
The 3MP and 5MP settings appear to be extrapolated, rather than native to the imaging chip. Either that, of the quality of the lens is too low to resolve anything above the 2MP (1080p) setting. The camera has required an occasional reboot (a couple times in a month and a half). The camera setup allows you to have the camera auto-reboot on a schedule, so that is as close as you will get to a “fix” for the issue. The IR illumination has a very narrow field, especially considering how wide a lens is fitted to the camera – expect about 10m of range.

Summary:
If you need a small, fixed focal length camera on a budget, it’s a decent camera to consider. If you have more money to spend, then you should go with something like Hikvision, but I would but another of these.

4The picture quality is good, even zoomed in with Blue Iris
By Jake Speed
The camera is very inexpensive, but it works for the price.
Primary use is as a Game Camera with live feed into the bunkhouse.

The picture quality is good, even zooming in with Blue Iris, at 1080p, it looks as good as expected from more expensive cameras.

The night vision does not work as expected. It runs on the internal clock in the camera and you can set it to run night mode at different times of the day. Because the day length is constantly changing (and the clock loses time quickly), you need to constantly adjust this. Losing time can be fixed by pointing at a time server, but I don’t have internet access to it.
—–Edit: Found a setting to automatically adjust night vision when it gets dark. Clock still loses time and if the camera loses power, goes to 1/1/1969.

Other reviews mention that they have to reboot the camera a couple times a month, however I haven’t ran into that because every couple hours, my camera reboots itself. Only takes about 30 seconds, but it’s lost video. I wanted to attribute that to the very long cable run, but it does it with a 3 foot cable.
—–Edit: Updated Windows and Blue Iris, now the camera does not reboot itself every few hours, however does need rebooting periodically, losing date/time.

4Nice compact Security IP POE Camera
By C. Chatham
Bought two of these with a GW NVR-16 recorder system. My cameras are the GW-2037IP model. Model # on this was unlisted but specifications and appearance seem the same. Camera is relatively small and compact for true weather resistant outdoor unit. Video feed is clear with very good daytime color. I had two cameras fail during a recent rainstorm (not this model). GW-Tech support could not have been more helpful. On the range of 1 – 10 I would have to give GW support a solid 10 no doubt! This camera has an IP66 weather rating, a solid tamper resistant case, IR range on this model works well out to 30′ in my application in no light condition. (The 15 to 20 meters listed in the specs are probably a bit of hopeful wishing.) It is quite capable of good facial recognition at medium range and after two months mine have been consistent and trouble free. I would definitely buy these again for the medium distance outside use that I required.

Everybody knows that since there is a within crime, there is also a rise in the number of surveillance DVR being sold at stores. So how are you going to choose the best one? The truth is price would not always reflect performance. You are able to choose the most expensive surveillance DVR there is, but you cannot always expect that it will perform just how that you want it to. You should be able to do your research before picking one from the store which means you will really know what you will be getting. One of the most important features that you should think about is their record resolution. It is the amount of px captured. Thus, it contributes to the success of capturing digital video evidence. You do not want for capturing something that you can barely recognize. It beats its purpose. You also want one that you can have full remote gain access to to. So you can access your videos from where you are and this could be anywhere which is the point of installing surveillance DVR at home.
