I like the fact that you can render the picture in …
By Richard Beaty
I bought this after my vehicle was broken into to help deter future thieves. I have a few likes and a few major dislikes.
First the likes:
I like the fact that you can render the picture in 1080p, it gets a good picture and the zoom on the PTZ camera hones in on a license place a good 600′ down the road like nobody’s business. The camera’s clear in the day as well as the night.
The software is just horrible, good luck on trying to figure out exactly what inputs the software is looking for. Take a stab at it and you might get it to work. No less than Three software suites come with it……..BLUF, they all three suck. You might be better off holding a seance with your friends to get an image to come up in the PC software. My NVR has been blacklisted for reasons beyond me. Getting the cameras to come up on the channels you want them to come up on, well, I haven’t figured it out yet, but if I do, I will update this post. There are numerous other reasons that I don’t think I would buy this again if I had the chance. I bought mine at COSTCO for $600 less than here on Amazon, if anybody is interested. I haven’t used any other security setup but I would hope their software setup would be alot better. There is definately alot to be desired when it comes to software.

Actually an Amazing System
I beg to differ from the previous reviewer. (I bought this package directly from Q-See, at a better price than amazon offered.) Yes the software takes some patience, but that’s true of your BlueRay player too. The manual is actually unusually comprehensive – it’s just got a big job to do with this rather sophisticated software. I found that if you follow the manual to the letter, use only Q-See cameras that are recommended for this NVR, let the software itself do all the work of finding the cameras, and apply a spot of patience, you get a WONDERFUL system: it does EVERYTHING, and does it in magnificent 1080p high resolution. The cameras are VERY good; the PTZ unit is amazing (and a terrific price in this bundle) – you can look around your street (every licence plate, if you want to) from the other side of the world! The normal cameras can see very well in the dark, thanks to the IR, but the PTZ doesn’t have IR – instead it automatically adjusts to super-high sensitivity so it can see a lot of things with very low ambient light, eg. street lights several houses away. My system has been running for 6 months without a glitch; in fact I’m still amazed at the great resolution and accurate colors on the screen each morning.
