4Great Image Quality and Very Responsive
By SRunner
First off, I won’t list all of the specs or features because you can easily find them online. I was looking for a camera that I could use for action shots without having to break out the DLSR all the time. I need high quality images and this camera fits the bill very nicely.

Image quality
Small size
Articulating screen
Fast Image processing

Limited length of video

You can shoot bursts at 16 frames per second at max resolution. Autofocus is VERY fast with almost no lag.

I’ll be using this a lot indoors and sometimes with close subjects, so the 24-70 mm lens on this camera will be fine. At greater distances, I’ll still use the DSLR with a longer lens. Just keep in mind that even though you’re almost spending a thousand dollars, there are much better options if you looking for a wide zoom range. However, the RX100 IV will give you EXCELLENT QUALITY IMAGES. I have no complaints about the image quality. It far surpasses the quality of most cameras of this size that I have used.

The camera has a pop-up viewfinder that has amazing resolution. This is extremely helpful in direct sunlight where the main screen is difficult to see. The articulating 3 inch screen is extremely useful for getting shots at strange angles (along the ground for example) and still has decent resolution. No complaints on the viewfinder or main screen. There main screen is not a touchscreen, but I prefer having physical dials and buttons anyway.

The high frame rate video will be fun to experiment with. However, the amount of time you can capture the video is limited; 2 seconds at 960 fps. It captures 4K video but is limited to a file size of 4 GB or 29 minutes whichever comes first. This works out to about 5 minutes of 4K video before the maximum file size is reached. I’m using this camera mainly for still pictures and it does great! If I wanted to shoot a lot of 4K video, I would buy a dedicated video camera.

This camera is very small considering what it can do. It will be very handy to keep it in my pocket, ready at a seconds notice. I’ll be able to capture many more shots simply because of the size of the camera and being able to keep it with me at all times. I’m not crazy about the control ring around the lens, but I’m sure I’ll get more comfortable with it as time goes on.

Overall, this is a great camera that produces excellent images. If you don’t need to shoot long 4K videos, I would highly recommend this small and fast camera.

5Excellent Images
By Big A
Compared to my RX100ii the images produced by the new RX100iv are fantastic, especially for this size of camera. Viewing on a 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display the IQ is awesome. I wont go into all the technical aspects as there are lots of other references available. From a critical user perspective this camera delivers on all fronts. Sure you can get better quality if you are prepared to sacrifice the pocket-ability size of this camera. I sold off my Nikon D800 a while ago and purchased the RX1 so I have some good reference points to base my opinion.

I have done side by side comparisons with my brothers Panasonic LX100, my Sony RX1 (not a fair comparison but I had to have a high reference point) & my RX100ii. For video the Panasonic wins for me (Mac friendly & the colors seem to pop) but when it comes to IQ, EVF and size, the RX100iv wins hands-down over the Panasonic & RX100ii.

If you are looking to upgrade from the RX100iii or Panasonic LX100 then its probably not worth it. I love the new RX100iv & for its size nothing out there delivers so much bang for the buck. For me its a winner.

Highly recommended

5Unsurpassed specs and performance in a P&S compact camera
By Hualalai
The RX100M IV is disruptive technology, in a good sense, with unsurpassed specs and performance that matches the specs. Based on some of the reviews that are less than 5 stars, one could infer that either (i) the reviewer thought s/he had bought a Sony RX10M II… no, you’ll have to wait until August for that model, or (ii) no manual came with the RX100M IV that recites what the camera can and cannot do. It has a thermal cutoff at 5 minutes of 4K video capture. That’s 5 minutes of 4K video that no other P&S compact can deliver. It has the best sensor in the P&S class… so good it will also be used in the Sony RX10M II … but then you’re in the megazoom size and weight. Rather than be disappointed because the new RX100 is not the new RX10… download and read the RX100 IV manual.

I now carry my new RX100M IV … AND my Panny ZS40. The ZS40 gives the 30X zoom that you need in a travel camera (as long as there’s plenty of light), and the RX100 IV replaces my Oly E-M1 when I don’t want to lug around a slingpack.

Right now, I’m not going to tell you that you can take better photos with a point and shoot camera than you can with an DIGITAL SLR. But, I’m not going to notify you that you cannot take good photos with them either. If a point and shoot has an aperture priority, shutter priority, or a hands-on shooting mode, you may have some pretty good control over what the image will look like. But, even if it doesn’t have custom shooting modes, you can still get favorable results. After all, there are groups of photographers that pride themselves on getting great photos using only their cellphone cameras.

That’s the whole thing you must know about this product. With such a comprehensive input, you’ll get more than enough guideline so there’s not a single opportunity to make the wrong decision. Don’t forget that best valued one isn’t be the lowest priced one. Price won’t be considered a problem when it meets your preference. Off course, you’re someone to decide in case your final decision just for this product is a no, we have now reviews for another products on the same category. There’s possibility you could find what you need derived from one of of them. Many thanks and also have a superb day!
