4Good camera, not so great directions.
By CRaysor
Just bought this camera solely to test the quality. I recently purchased the ZOSI ZG2317A bullet camera and loved it, and because of similar specs I thought I’d give this a try. Could be plain stupidity on my end, but I’ve never installed dome cameras before, and figuring out how to remove the camera from the housing for mounting was a painful task. After scratching the paint on the camera pretty badly I finally turned the camera lens 90 degrees (parallel with the ZOSI logo), rotated it another 90 degrees (lens 90 degrees from the cutout), and “slid” the camera sideways / up to remove it.

Pros:
-Good night vision
-Good image quality
-Sturdy construction

Cons:
-Generic instructions (Did not have device-specific directions).

5Works quite well, Great for the price. Description / features listed is accurate. Very Addictive device.
By Uncle Thomas149
Updated 25DEC2015- I have eleven cameras out of 16 purchased from Zosi working , exposed to weather, outside in Florida., with a 4 Channel switch box. swapped cameras I had to the largest TVL value. My “spares” are a VideoSecu IR24W, and two Zosi ZG2116E,( one white, one black, same cat number).I see no difference in Zoso cameras (sold on Amazon) labeled to whatever TVL. Two fogged up, noticable when on Infrared mode, not in daylight, Excellent device, addictive, fun to play with, you can figure it out by trial and error, this was my first system, but within days: I upgraded from the 4 channel to 8 channel and mailed the 4CH unit to Sandy Pond, Sandy Creek/Pulaski NEW YORK.
with $200 worth of (STUFF) various BNC/RCA connectors, longer wiring (150ft) a 4 pack of power supplies and 4 TVL800 “Outdoor” cameras.
UNKNOWN: extreme cold effects.
Being an old shut-in, I did not know the “MUCH BETTER” Operator’s Manual on the tiny CD will play in today’s computers, the last time I tried a mini-CD in an old laptop, the CD fell through the tray so I ASSUMED the CD wouldn’t play on American computers.
My Latitude D830 has a recessed area on the tray, I rarely use the DVR, I have a PS4…Amazon Prime, DIRECTV, blah. blah. blah
The new, March 2015 version , is a much better detailed manual, not the “Quick Start Guide you can download from Zositech.com.
The included mini-Cd (or whatever you call it), addressed ALL all the questions I spent a week figuring out the hard way.
Engineers never give the details. They leave out device capabilities because “they” know how to USE it already, there are a lot of things I thought the unit could not do and I found out it does everything I could ever want. Yeah, resolution is like a rabbit ears 1971 Zenith,
Some other Tips learned the hard way. You can click and drag the pictures on the display but DWELL displays each panel as they are hard wired to the unit. (right click anywhere on monitor, left click “menu”, left click”setup”, left click “live” and select “main monitor”
to configure your “DWELL screen. E-ZOOM always defaults (starts) on the upper left Quadrant of the displayed picture, with the mouse you can click and size a green box inside the red box { (picture in picture , the original camera feed ) . The PIP box will block the lower left corner of whatever the ZOOM shows.}to outline an area to instantly show whatever you want. with the remote, you can P.Z.T, but it takes a while..
The “didn’t read the book” way to install this particular new unit.
Swipe the VGA monitor and hard drive out of an old desktop. Plug in cameras, monitor and mouse. plug DVR in, there is no on/off switch, you shut the system down with the mouse and unplug to POR.
RIGHT click on any screen to display a selector panel. (if asked for password, leave it blank and proceed) LEFT click to select “Main Menu”.
using the remote ESC is equivalent to right click, MENU is left click. response may be slow at times.
To setup for night, do it when it’s dark out. Right click, select color, turn brightness down until you see where the IR leds are pointing. adjust camera.
to set up cameras: set screw for the camera head is in a recessed hole, unscrew the one for the camera body set screw a LOT” to rotate camera at the head joint. Cable goes all the way into the camera with the insulation undamaged so you can twist the camera head and mount the swivel at the mount base, and the angle joint in the center, any direction, then rotate the camera head until the “red looking led” on the camera face is bottom center and/or two clear leds on the top are level with each other. consider mounting camera with screw heard facing down, and buy some Loctite Blue and something like DE-OX for the connectors, do not twist connectors to pull apart power plugs as the center pin is fragile.
I’ve spent every night for a month “playing” around with settings, spent another 150 on “extras”. You may want to check out the complete ZOSI units and price out. The supplied camera power transformers seem capable of two hundred feet run in series with an add on deal, and the $9.40 IR Spotlights work great, with 3 setups using a homemade pararell “Y” cable to the spotlight on same power feed.(3) You won’t catch any evil doers, the IR LEDs are clearly visible at night. but you can run the unit to the big screen, switch to AV with you TV remote when you hear a noise, and listen, check out the whole fortress, and THEN decide if you want to act accordingly,

4Great value, solid product.
By Gassy Giant
For the money, this is a really great system. It took time to physically run the cables around the house and mount them outside, but once they were up they operated nearly flawlessly for the past 6 months or so. The mobile app is a bit clunky but it works. The picture attached is the view from my 4 cameras during the cold snap we are currently experiencing, it’s -15F outside right now. They operate perfectly in the rain and snow, no issues. The night vision isn’t amazing if you get further than say 20 feet but still serviceable. If you’re using this to keep an eye on your house casually, it’s a no-brainer at $150. Honestly it’s worth double IMO.

A whole lot of crimes are happening in the home. This kind of has increased the requirement to have a security system in your home. Parents and homeowners aren’t always at home. Hence, important things and people are left at home unprotected and unsafe from people who are out to do them harm. Seeing that parents are gone for long periods of time everyday, a monitoring DVR is the only thing that can handle this as compared to VCRs that can simply manage small amounts of time.
